Sundt Foundation Awards $5,979 to Local Nonprofits

EL PASO, Texas (Mar. 25, 2015) Sundt Construction, Inc.‘s El Paso employees have selected four local nonprofit organizations, MDA, Big Brothers Big Sisters El Paso, El Paso’s Miracle League Inc. and H.O.P.E. Institute, to receive Sundt Foundation grants totaling $5,979 for this quarter.

 

$1,523 Grant Recipient

Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) provideshope-instilling services and resources for families living with neuromuscular disease. In addition to offering a free clinic and summer camp to help transition kids into the real world, the MDA’s El Paso chapter offers a loan closet with items such as wheelchairs, lift devices, leg braces and more.

 

$1,805 Grant Recipient

Big Brothers Big Sisters El Paso offers professionally supported mentorship programs for children facing adversity. The program aims to help youth reach their full potential by strengthening their commitment to education and improving their self-confidence. Youth with a mentor are also less likely to engage in behaviors such as drug and alcohol abuse, gang involvement and violence.

 

$1,466 Grant Recipient

El Paso’s Miracle League Inc. provides children with mental and/or physical challenges an opportunity to play baseball as a team member in an organized league. The grant money will help provide uniforms, equipment, recognition and supplemental insurance to hundreds of participants in various sports programs.

 

$1,185 Grant Recipient

H.O.P.E. Institute (H.I.) will use the funds to support its affordable housing resources for homeless female Veterans in El Paso County. H.I. provides food, shelter, clothing, transportation, life-skills and job training, and many other resources, helping the women prepare for employment, self-sufficiency and independent living.

 

The Sundt Foundation was established by Sundt in 1999 to give its employee-owners a means of giving back to their communities. It provides financial support to nonprofit organizations dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and adults. Most grants are made to organizations in the communities where Sundt has offices and construction projects. The Foundation is funded primarily by contributions from Sundt employees and company matching. To date, the organization has awarded more than $6 million in donations to organizations throughout Texas, California, Arizona and beyond.
