Laboratories & Healthcare Construction
Our experience with laboratory projects began in the 1960s, when we built a number of clean rooms built for private defense clients and large public universities. The fact that we’re builders, not just construction managers, makes us especially good at research facility, laboratory, and clean room construction because we know how to approach dynamic problems and bring elegant solutions to the table.
Over the past five decades, Sundt has also become an established builder of healthcare facilities, ranging from hospitals and health education/research facilities, to assisted living and skilled nursing centers, medical office buildings, and outpatient clinics.
Laboratories are often challenging and complex to build because they contain highly specialized systems and must meet the unique requirements of the research being conducted. Sundt’s portfolio of laboratory projects includes facilities for cutting-edge scientific research as well as new product development.
Hospital projects pose many unique challenges to the construction team, including the need to maintain the facility’s around-the-clock operations, working in close proximity to surgical suites and other sensitive areas, installation of specialized mechanical systems, preventing the spread of infectious diseases, and control of noise and dust. Sundt has constructed dozens of hospital projects, from complete new facilities to simple additions and renovations. We use the latest precon and construction tools, combined with the best builders in the business to deliver the highest quality projects on time and on budget.
Senior Living is a continually evolving market that includes characteristics of both healthcare and hospitality to meet both the well-being and social needs of our aging population. Facilities may be freestanding or age-in-place communities, public and private, for-profit or nonprofit, resulting in a broad diversity of building configurations and amenities. Sundt has constructed all types of senior living facilities, including continuing care retirement communities, senior apartments, independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing. Our breadth of experience in these project types means we understand the unique marketing, operating and business factors that are critical to the development of a successful senior living project.
